At a late hour last night fire destroyed the grandstand at Mentone' Racecourse, together with the luncheon. Press, telegraph and other rooms. The fire brigade, owing to the lack of water, was obliged to stand by. unable to do anything to stop the flames. The origin of the fire is a mystery. A meeting was held at lire course on Sasturclay. The caretaker made several rounds of the buildings during Sunday and saw nothing to indicate the possibility of a fire. The administrative offices escaped.
