FRENCH GAIN VICTORY OVER RIFF TRIBES.
CAVALRY PURSUES RETREATING REBELS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Reuter's Telegrams. (Received September 21, 11.30 a.m.) PARIS, September 20. Considerable geographical importance is attached t.o the capture of Zawia of Ouled-Ghazzar in the Moroccan campaign, as it affords a wide field for a view northward. The operation was carried out by three columns, which set out at eight in the morning and completed their aim at midnight. The rebels were strongly entrenched, but retreated, pursued by cavalry. It is anticipated that the victory will lead to the early submission of a number of tribes, who have awaited the arrival of the French troops for an opportunity to withdraw from the fighting.
