Parliament has now passed a compassionate allowance of 3.000.000 dollars, from which all depositors having deposits cf 500 dollars or less with the bank at the time of its failure will receive 35 per cent of the amount. Larger depositors have to prove straitened circumstances before they may Some time ago the. directors of the i Home Bank were convicted and given ! sentences ranging from one to ten years’ imprisonment. Yesterday the Appeal Court quashed the convictions on a technicality.
