The funeral of the late Mr Frederick Palmer, for many years a prominent officer of the Post and Telegraph Department, took place at Wellington on Saturday, and was largely attended. The late Mr Palmer’s genius .as an inventor of mechanical devices proved of much value to the Post and Telegraph Department, and included the coin-in-t.he-slot telephone, and it * latest development, the automatic slot telephone. Some years ago, on bis return from America, he designd ana constructed a model of an electric tramway on the overhead trolley system- The model attracted much attention at the Wellington Exhibition in IS9B. and at the Christchurch Exhibition in 1906.
