The High Court delivered judgr.mt for plaintiffs in the case in which the Union Steamship Company sued the Superintendent of Mercantile Marine. The judgment is expected to have far-reaching effects, as the Court held that the Colonial Laws Validity Act applied to the Commonwealth of Australia. and that the provisions of the Navigation Act relating to the engagement and discharge of seamen were invalid and repugnant to the provisions of the Imperial Merchant Shipping Act, relating to that matter.
