AUTHORITIES TO TAKE SEVERE MEASURES. .JTRIKE EXTENDING. (Received June 22, 9.35 aiu.' PEKIN, June 21. The Government has given notifieation that it is determined to lake severe measures against persons endeavouring to disturb the peace and good- I will of the colony, and offering rewards j for information leading to the arrest and conviction <>f the offenders in the murder of Mr N’akadai at Canton. Mr Nakadai, the Japanese treasurer of the Ilukuai Hospital, was returning to the bank with 5000 dollars in a bag. His assassin escaped with the monev. The general strike at Hong Kong is • spreading. Motormen and conductors on the electric tramway have struck, and the service is temporarily suspended. Chinese, house servants in European employ at Kow loon have struck, and it is expected that the movement will become general throughout the colony.
