ENGLISH BOWLERS.

TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND. ARRIVING IN DECEMBER. No official details of the proposed tour of English bowlers next summer have yet. been announced, except the ba.ro intimation by cable, a. fortnight ago, that they were leaving by the Nnldera. on September 23. From Australia. however, comes the full, itinerary, and it is very pleasing to note that the party will apparently spend more time in New Zealand than in Australia. The information comes in the form of a private letter to a friend in Sydney from Mr Melbourne Orchard, n New Zealander now resident in London, who has organised the whole scheme. No dates arc given, except the date oF departure from London, and the final date when they leave Auckland by the Tainui on February 2i. Three days will be spent in .Perth, five in Adelaide, ten days each in Melbourne and Sydney, and three da vs in Brisbane. They will then sail from Sydney to Auckland. a n ,d work through New Zealand as far as the Dominion tournament at Dunedin, returning to Auckland after visiting other centres, and the Rotorua, tournament. Allowing for all the time* lost in travelling round Australia, ii seems to work out that thev ought’ to arrive in Auckland a few da vs before Christmas, and as Mr Orchard indiCat if S i l° r ' a l P r ogrammfs Will be fixed up by the. local authorities, it may he possible to get them imo our own Christmas tournament before they n ovo on. M r Orchard is a, champion bowler, having won the Lonsdale Trophy, which in‘London is esteemed as the principal laurel of •Sydney “Bowling Life*’ states that no bowler in London is held* in higher esteem than Mr Orchard, who bv his cheerio disposition is an ever welcome guest at every bowling green. The following points in his letter will be read with interest: “The official communication will go out in due course. The arranged by me are going to be strictly adhered to. ft** was necessary to take up that attitude! otherwise the trip might have been impossible, as time will be the essence of the contract. The team will comprise thirty-two players, and with the few ladies going, will make a total number of forty. It will go out under the auspices of the International Bowling Board, which, as you know, comprises England, Scotland. Ireland and Wales. The president of the English Bowling Association is going to be one of the party. I feel sure that this team will be a good one, fro-m a playing standpoint, and great pains fire being taken to send tin-top players. The champion of England going: that .maw be a draw. J sure they will have p glorious time amongst you all. and their trip will do an immeqre amount of good, apart frobowling "
