DID COURT BLUNDER?
ARBITRATION SYSTEM DISCUSSED. (Special to the ” Star.”) WELLINGTON, June 17. The statement made in a certain quarter recently that the Arbitration Court had blundered was icfuted at to-day\s sitting by .Mr A. W. Crosker.% secretary of the New Zealand Federation of Shop Assistants. ” The Court has given every consideration to every application made beloie il. ’ declared Air Croskorv, “and 4 we have issued a protest against the statement, made to the contrary. Every application that has come here in our cp.njun. lias been dealt with very *tair!y to the evidence submitted.” Air .Justice Frazer: We are verv glad to have that assurance from you*. It is the desire oi all the members uj the Court to deal fairly and fully "iili all matters that come before us, no matter from whom they come. Feme times it may appear that the Court has not done the very best thing, bill, il inu-t be guided by the evidence before il at. the time. This fact dees not appear i , be recognised by everybody. In the light of later knowledge, it might appear that another view might have been taken It is all very well to he wise after the event. “ Although the Court rnjoht in on© or two instances hare come* to a different. conclusion if it had known everything that it hsy learnt since.” his Honor added, •• \ think that- in none of these, cases has the Court given a decision not full- justified by the evidence placed before it.” Ili.s Honor said that he interpreted the word “blunder” as meaning an art. committed stupidly and without full consideration of the information available Within that meaning of The word he considered the Court had not blundered. •• However.” concluded his Honor, addressing Mr Croskery, “I apt glad to know that the party you represent, which has seen something of the work of the Court, is satisfied that every care and attention has been given.”
