THE MAYORAL KISS.

INCIDENT AT CONCERT. The Mayor (Mr J. K. Archer) kissed a girl in a public hall on Saturday night. This much may be said in extenuation -she was a very young girl, and he had to stand her on a chair to make her face accessible. It was, Mr Archer said, the first Mavoral kiss he had bestowed. This happened at the competition demonstration concert, when Mr Archer was presenting the championship medals to successful competitors. A shake of the Mayoral hand was enough till little Joan Hughes, the girls’ junior champion, came along. Joan has red cheeks and a pretty smile, so Mr Archer succumbed to the double charm. Following her came Miss Marjorie Nelson, the winner of the Alice Gunner Memorial Medal. “ Are you too big?” said the Mayor. “ I’m afraid so,” said Miss Nelson.
