An/.tu- Day was fixed by tin* New South Wales Junior Cricket Union for the final ol the mateh North Sydney v Ralrnain juniors for the Martin Shield. North Sydney had previously informed the union that they would not play owing to the sacred ness of Aiushc Day. and lhr* union awarded the shield toBalmain. North Sydney thereupon held a meeting ei protest and decided to secede from the union. I lie mover of ihc motion declared that they would rather sacrifice the shield than be false to their fallen comrades. If racing, football and other (,lubs abandon their sports. surely cricket bodies should do no less. The meeting generally endorsed this sentiment.
