ALLEGED BURGLARS. ONE ARREST SO FAR. It was stated by Chief Detective Gibson in the Magistrate’s Court this morning that a gang was concerned in a case of burglary which occurred recently. The case before the Court was that in which Charles Batchelor, aged twen-ty-five, was charged with breaking and entering the shop of Winifreda Doyle on April 20 and stealing four tine of salmon, two packets of raisins, a Quantity of cigarettes, matches and cigarette paper, of the total value of £l. The chief detective asked for a remand till Wednesday. Mr Tracy, who appeared for accused, asked that bail be allowed. The Magistrate (Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M.) : Who is this man? The chief detective: There is a gang of them implicated in this, but he is the only one so far arrested. Bail was fixed at £IOO, with two sureties of £SO each.
