It estimates that in 1924 the Continent importeu 4.,>9,000 tons ot meat, which was- double the quantity imported in 1923, ana four times the quantity imported jn 1922. Italy took 123.000 tons, Germany 100,000 tons, and Belgium ana Franco each 93.000 tons. All of the countries imported chiefly beef, ana very little mutton. Argentina and ■Uruguay supplied 70 per cent of the imports in 1924.
