MOERAKI SAILS.
NEW CREW ABOARD. COOKS PROTEST. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received February 13, 11 a.m.) MELBOURNE, February 13. With a non-unionist crew. the Moeraki sailed for New Zealand, probably for Dunedin, at 11.30 last night. The new crew were taken aboard in a ferry. Some trouble occurred wheu they reached the vessel. The cooks refused to work with non-unionists and were I>ut ashore. The stewards, however, were satisfied to remain aboard. Tn accordance with the order made by the Court, th e old crew assembled in the Mercantile Marine offices to he paid off. but a hitch occurred because all bands refused to sign off unless paid until the time of their return to New Zealand, which was not agreed to. Then the men contended that the Court clerk had made an entry in the log after Wednesday’s proceedings. The point was made that this was not legal, because only ships’ officers are permitted to make entries in the log. This contention also had no effect, but before any finality was reached the marine offices were closed and payment postponed till to-day-
