CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION COMPETITIONS. The conclusion of the sixth round of the O.C.A. senior competition on Saturday left West Christchurch in the lead with 11 points, followed by Sydenham 10 points. F.ast Christchurch f> points, and I.inwood fi points. These four clubs will, commence a series of semi-finals next Saturday in preparation for tli * finals, which will he decided between the winning- teams of these two matches. A great deal of interest is being taken in the competition matches this season, judging by the increased attendances at both Tiiincaster Park and Hagley Park, and tho resolution of the Canterbury Cricket Association to decide the competition by means of semi-finals and finals provides the opportunities for some really good matches during the remainder of the season. Of the two semi-final matches commencing on Saturday, the one creating most interest will be that between Sydenham and Linwood at Lancaster Park. Both teams will be up to full strength, as their players in the Canterbury representative team have returned from Dunedin. The other match, between West Christchurch and .Hast Christchurch, at Hagle.v Park No. 1. should also he a good game, but. should not prove a difficult task for West. The umpires appointed for tho semifinal match at Lancaster Park are Messrs Belsted and Cox, and for the one at T-fagley Park, Messrs Butler and Forrester. Tn connection with these matches the Competitions Committee have decided that the following points must be observed:— (a) That a first innings decision must be reached in the semi-final, and (b) "that the captains must toss for choice of innings. Owing to the infantile paralysis precautions the fourth grade competitions have been cancelled at the request of the Health Department. This has allowed a rearangement of grounds, and the following alterations in the Senior B competition have been made for Saturday : itiecartori v. Sydenham will he played at Hagley Park No. 3, not. at Sydenham as previously announced: and West Christchurch v. St Albans will be played at Hagley No. 5, not Hagley No. 3.
