WIRELESS ACROSS PACIFIC. Since the radio notes on another page were written, JUr Dawson, 3AI-, has been successful in bridging the Pacific on his low-powered transmitter. This must easily rank as the world’s record as regards distance covered for the power used. The input to tno set at 3AL on A lon day evening when
he. got into touch with Mr B. Molinavi, (iAVVT. of San Francisco, was only a bare I l watts, not nearly enough power to light, an ordinary incandescent electric lamp. One other New Zealand station has been in I wo-war-toneh with t'.S.A. using a “five ratt” tube, but this station used trice the input power that Mr Dawson did. Under special Government permission Mr Dawson is commencing a scries of short-wave tests. This last record was made on a wave-length of 88 metres. The tests to he conducted will probably bo on .'!!) metres. Very low power will be used.
