HONOURS BOARD.
PRESENTATION AT PHILLIPSTOWN. In a ceremony at the Phillipstown School this morning Mr J. Taylor, chairman of the committee, presented the school with an honours board. Tlie pupils were drawn up in front of the main building, and, after the Union Jack had been unfurled, Mr A. C. Maxwell, head master of tlie school, said the occasion marked a step in advance so far as the school was concerned. Every school should have some means of handing on the names of those scholars who had distinguished themselves by taking school honours. Phillipstown was but a new school, two and a half years old, and they were fortunate in having a chairman who recognised the importance of an honours board. It should be the ambition of every boy and girepresent to have his or her name some day placed on the board. Mr Taylor then presented the hoard to the school on behalf of the committee. He congraulated ibe pupils whose names were already on the hoard. They were: 1923. Athol Since and Rita Wii kinson : 1924. Gordon "Watson and Betty Sinclair. Three hearty cheers were given liy the children for Mr Taylor. At. the request of the head master Mr Taylor then presented swimming certificates to the following pupils: - Girls—O. M. Seymour. A. Findlay, T. Scow, M, Sinclair, W. Watson, D Gamble. P. Seymour. M. Hobbs, N. Wallace. A. Quane. D. Guernsey, D Miller, M. O'Brien. M. Finlay and M. Taylor. Boys H. Scow. A. Jones, H. Barker, ,T. Cusack, P. Darbv, A M’Neil, E. Scow. M. Darbv, C. Edwards and A. Rice.
