BLENHEIM “GRAIN KINGS.”
(Special to the “ Star.”) BLENHEIM. December 9. “ A man has to be a pretty shrewd customer to go into the grain and produce trade in Marlborough, hasn’t he?” inquired Air G. Watson in the ! Supreme Court this morning from Mr (». J. Leach, of the Farmers’ Co-oper-ative Association, who was in the witness box. “Oh. f don’t know." replied the witness. “ Tt. is more difficult, than in the. wool and skin trade. ’’ " Oh.” rejoined counsel. ‘ I thought the. produce trad* was a highly specialised one. Isn't it. a fact that you have grain kings in Afarlborough who are pretty hard to butt up against Witness: .They used to be. but it isn’t so hard now. Counsel : Since a recent tragic happening. I suppose? (Laughter.) The witness admitted that the grain and produce trade required a good deal of expert knowledge.
