OVER A BANK.
TRUCK DRIVER KILLED AT PLIMMERTON. WKLUNGTON. November 10. Tl»e inquest was continued to-day on Frank Garland, who was killed in a. motor accident at Fiimmerton. John Timothy Hynes. lesiding at l*Jimmerton. said that on October H, Garland stayed at Ins “ bach.” Next a Iter noon he (witness) took a truck oil a demonstration run. Garland driving. On arrival at f*ackakariki. the party of four had a drink, and alter a short intetval had another one both as the publican’s guests The return journey was then commenced. Everything went smoothly 101 a time, but between Pahautanui and Plinimerton they collided with ;% motor, and then ran into a bank. Speed varied from eight to thirty miles an hour. When near Plinimerton, at a bend in the road, the* driver turned the car about one-third round the corner, and then it went right over the hank. It toppled about twenty-live feet, turning twice over as it fell. All were thrown out and Garland was so hadl> injured that he died shortly afterwards. When on the return journey witness had in hi*. possession a whisky lmttlo partly full, but r.one of the party drank any on the return journey.
