CHURCH PARADE.

ARMISTICE DAY SERVICE. The annual church parade in commemoration of Armistice Day was held yesterday, when the territorial forces of Christchurch attended the eleven o’clock service at the Cathedral. Over 1200 men were on parade, the units represented being the Ist Battalion. Canterbury Regiment, the 4th (C) Battalion Canterbury Regiment, the Southern Depot, Army Service Corps, the Southern Depot, New Zealand Medical Corps, the Ist Canterbury Mounted Rifles (C.Y.C.), the Corps of Signals, the Engineers and the New Zealand Field Artillery. The First Canterbury Regimental Band and the 4th (C) Battalion Band were also on parade. The parade fell in at Latimer Square, under Colonel H. Stewart. The salute was taken by Colonel-Commandant R. Young, C. 8.. D.vS.O., officer commanding the Southern Command. There was a very large attendance at the Cathedral. The sermon was preached by the Rev E. C. Crosse, M.C., M .A. The parade comprised forty officers, twelve permanent staff and 1200 of other ranks. NEW BRIGHTON CADETS. The New Brighton vSenior Cadet Company, with a muster of S 7, under Lieutenant A. P. Hopkins, 0.C., paraded last evening and, headed by its drum and bugle band, fifteen strong, marched to the Methodist Church, where service was conducted by the padre of the company, the Rev F. T. Read, who took for the subject of his address “ Peace.” During the scivice the choir, under the baton of Mr F. E. Jones, sang the anthem “ Sun of My Soul.” The Mayor, Mr J. Gamble, and Mrs Gamble were amongst those present. At the conclusion of the service the company marched back to its headquarters, where before dismissal, Captain Read, in the course of a short address, thanked the cadets for their exemplary conduct during the service and complimented them upon their muster, smart appearance, discipline and very fine marching. Services in connection with the Armistice Dq.y celebrations were held at All Saints’ Church, Sumner, yesterday, and were attended by a large muster of territorials and cadets under Lieutenant T. G. Evans. The morning service was conducted hv the Rev E. C. W. Powell, who preached an impres. sive sermon. The evening service was attended by the Sea Scouts under Scoutmaster C. Sherrard. Mr Powell again preached the sermon.
