POWER LINE TO TIMARU.
During; the time that Ashburton and South Canterbury have been supplied with electricity from Lake Coleridge, a number of interruptions have occurred through insulators of one particular make developing faults. Over TOO insulators of this make have already been removed as a result of inspections and it has been decided by the Public s Yorks Department to remove all the remainder and replace them with a different make. A contract was recently let to Messrs A. i>. Riley and Co., Ltd., for the supply, by February 9. 1925, of 1209 Duller pin-type insulators of 70,000 voltage to replace those which have been discarded. Over 4000 insulators are used on the Timaru transmission line. In addition a contract has been let to Messrs Garrick, Wedderspoon, Ltd., for the supply of 1200, Ohio Brass pin-type insulators of 80.000 voltage, to replace a similar make of insulators on the transmission lines between Aylesbury and Christchurch.
