“STAR” CHRISTMAS NUMBER.
PROSE, POETRY, AND PICTURES. Tlie Christinas Number of tha “Star” this year will be published about the middle of December, and it is hoped to make it even more successful than any of its predecessors The aggregate prize money wiil be greater than last year and in the photographic section it is intended to make a wider selection for publication from the non-prize winning pictures. Tlie subjects and the prizes are as follow : 1. ORIGINAL STORY, not to exceed 2000 words. First prize. £5 5s ; second prize, £3 3s. 2. ORIGINAL POEM, subject “Christchurch.” First prize, £3; second prize, £2; third prize. £l. 3. CHILDREN’S POEM, any subject. open to children under fourteen First prize, £1 Is; second prize, 15s 4. PHOTOGRAPHIC STUDY, relating to New Zealand. Subjects may be chosen from the seaside (yachting, boating or bathing), the Avon, the Port Hills, the farming districts, or the mountains. The prints’ must be not less than post-card size. Prizes £2 10s, £2, £1 10s and £l. Others accepted for publication, 7s 6d. ANIMAL STUDY 7 , of any description. including bird life. First prize £2 10s, second prize £2, third prize £l. Other prints accepted for reproduction 7s 6d each. The awards will be made by the editor of the ‘‘Star,’* whose decision shall be final. Entries will be received up to November 20. Unaccepted entries w'ill be returned if accompanied by a stamped and addressed envelope.
