SOUTH ISLAND SHIPPING NEEDS.
At a meeting of the council of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce last night the committee set up to consider the programme for the proposed conference in regard to South Island shipping facilities reported having taken into consideration correspondence which had passed between Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill with reference In the subject. The committee had arranged for the conference to he held in Dunedin, the agenda to he prepared by the Otago Importers’ and Shippers’ Association A and circulated to ;.ll bodies participating by October. It had been decided that representatives of the Meat Board, Dairy Contiol Board. and Shipping interests should he invited to attend the conference. The matters which tho conference would deal with were:— O') Oversea shipping. (2) Coastal shipping. And then determine whether it should later deal with CD Railway transport. Tho following were appointed delegates to the conference: The president (Mr Stronach Paterson), the vice, president (Air AY. ATachin). Messrs FT. •T. Afarriner, E. S. Orchard and E. H. AVylcs.
