LIKE 1905 ALL BLACKS.
“ THE TIMES’ ” OPINION OF N.Z. TEAM “ SWANSEA LOOKED LIKE BOYS CHASING A TEAM OF MASTERS.” By Telegraph.—Press Association. —Copyright.—“The Times” Service. (Received September 30, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, September 29. The Rugby critic of “ The Times ” still cautiously compares the New Zealanders with the original All Blacks, but admits that in Saturday’s game they undoubtedly came nearer comparison with their famous predecessors. “ It is true that the opposition was appallingly weak," he says, “ and they had in fact no more than three or four first-classi players against them, but even so they admittedly demonstrated their all round ability. Moreover, even the most cautious critic must admit that it proved one important thing, namely that the forwards can beat an opposition seven fairly and squarely, and the backs can score tries in abundance, and score them brilliantly, too. “The opening play scarcely suggested the runaway victory that followed, but the New Zealanders’ ascendancey quickly came, after which it was hardly any match at all, the Swansea players looking more like small boys chasing a team of masters.”
