CONVOCATION OF KLAN.

IMPERIAL WIZARD’S ADDRESS. By Telaexaph—Presa Association—Copjrixfal Reuter'a Telegram?. NEW YORK. September 24. A telegram from Kansas City says: ‘‘ The Ku Klux Klan was characterised as tlie last refuge of patriotism worthy of the name by the Imperial Wizard, Hiram Evans, when addressing the second Imperial Convocation. KJansmen and Klanswomen are virtually the salt of the earth, upon whom depends the future of civilisation," lie added, and asserted that the future of America and of the white race were hanging in the balance. Evans continued: "The blood which protects human leadership must, be protected from inferior blood, from competition which saps the vitality ot leadership. History proves that only the Nordic Anglo-Saxon peoples have reached a high level of intelligence.” Every attack against the Klan, the speaker contended, made for a more clear-cut issue—Americanism against alienism.
