Lancashire, in the first inning*. declared with six wickets down for 41-5. (Watson 63, Hopwood. not out. 105'). Rain interrupted play at the luncheon adjournment, and the game was resumed late in the afternoon. The South Africans, in the first innings, had one wicket down for 47 runs at stumps.
