POST OFFICE THEFT.

YOUNG MAN’S OFFENCE. Foster Alexander Ramsay, twentytwo years of age, came up for sentence before Air Justice Adams to-day for stealing £26 from the Postal Department at Brockside. Air Flesher, who appeared for the prisoner, said that he was in charge of the Brockside branch, but was paid only £44 a year. To supplement his income, he opened a small store, obtaining, goods from two merchants. Tc was not successful, and he met the liabilities by taking moneys belonging to the Post Office. He was on duty in the Post Office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. Every penny taken had been refunded, party by money he had earned since his arrest, and the balance by his parents. Ramsay was admitted to probation for two years, and was ordered to pay costs of the prosecution, £1 Is.
