As tli© result of a letter from Mr J. Wyn Irwin, secretary of the Bridge of Re membrane© Committee, the General Manager of Tramways (Mr Frank Thompson) has consulted with the Telegraph Superintendent with a view to reducing the number of poles in front of the Bridge of Remembrance. The telegraph poles are used for “staying” purposes, for which the Department will only use wooden poles. It is hoped to complete arrangements whereby the tramway wires will be on the Telegraph Department’s poles, thus reducing the number of poles in front of the bridge.
