Aldridge had hern appointed manager of the Hurunui team. Permission was granted and tho manager approved. The Eilcsroere Sub-union wrote stating that the representative match, Ellesmere v. Peninsula, would be played at Little Biver to-morrow, and tho Ashburton v. Ellesmere match at Southbridge on July •26. Permission to play the matches was granted. A letter was received asking for the use of Lancaster Park for the annual football match between the staffs o£ the New Zealand Refrigerating Company and the staffs of the. combined freezing companies on August i 9. It was agreed that, as far as the union was concerned, no objection should be made to tho use of tho park being granted. The South Canterbury Union wrote stating that Thursday, August 7. was acceptable as tho date for the junior representative match, Canterbury v. South Canterbury. COMPLAINTS AND PROTESTS. The Ashburton County Sub-union wrote with reference to the complaint of the Malvern Sub-union that it had not received it? full fha.ro of the gate receipts in tho Delargey Shield match. Malvern v. Ashburton, played at Ashburton on June 3. The letter stated that the matter liad been ‘discussed by the Ashburton Sub-union, a.nd it had been unanimously decided that the liability should be recognised and that a cheque for £1 2s 4d Should be sent to the Malvern Subunion. The Ashburton Sub-union was of opinion that Malvern should, as a matter of courtesy, have referred its complaint direct to Ashburton, which had no desire to deal otherwise than fairly and honourably. It was agreed io forward a copy of the letter to the Malvern Rub-union. The West Christchurch District High School Old Bovs’ Football Club wrote entering a protest against the action of the Merivale Club in playing s. man over age in their tifih grade match against the West Christchurch Club on June 7. A request was made that the match should be awarded to the West Christchurch Club. It was agreed to refer the letter to the Merivale Club. Tho Ellesmere Sub-union wrote stating that a. footballer was playing for the Christchurch Club without the permission of tho Ellesmere Sub-union. Permission had been refused for this player to play for the Christohurcli Club or in Christchurch. Mr Phillips said that a letter would come to hand from the Christchurch Club on the matter. There was more in the matter than appeared on the surface. It was decided to refer the letter of the Ellesmere Sub-union to the Christchurch Club. Tire New Brighton Club wrote protesting against tho Linwood sixth grade tram playing a boy over age in a match against New Brighton la.=t Saturday. It. was stated that the boy in question had wished to register with the New Brighton Club but had been refused on the ground that ho was over age. Doubt, was also expressed a.s to the- ages o£ two other of the Linwood players. It was agreed to forward a copy of the letter to tho Linwood Club. SCHOOLBOYS’ COMPETITION. With regard to the schoolboys' (seventh grade) competition, it was decided that all who were playing in the competition at present should be permitted to do so for the remainder of the first round, but that in the second round the weight limit should be strictly enforced. HOOKEY TOURNAMENT. At a previous meeting of the commits tee. tho Canterbury Hockey Association wrote asking for the use of Lancaster Park from August II to August 16 for the Dominion championship tournament. Consideration of the matter was deferred as there was a possibility of these dates clashing with dates for football fixtures. At last night’s meeting tho chairman said that the Hockey Association had made formal application for the use of the park to the Board of Control. After consideration it had been decided to suggest to the Hookey Association that they should alter tbe dates of. their tournament, from August. 11 to August. 16 to September 1 to September C. On September 6 the junior representative football match. Wellington v. Canterbury, was to bo played at Lancaster Park, aud the suggestion was that the final of the hockey tournament should be played as a, curtain-raiser to this match, the gat® to be divided on a fifty-fifty basis between tho Hookey Association and the Union. It was agreed that tho Hookey Association should bo allotted the. use of tho oval on September 6. a.nd that the gata should be divided, as suggested COMPETITION. The chairman brought up t.h© question of tho position of the leading tea.ms in the senior competition. He that only three Saturdays were left, for senior club matches. If the Christchurch v. Old Boys match was left, to August, 28 and Christchurch beat. Old Boys, there would he no Saturday left before the Pay no Trophy match on August 30. to play t.h© deciding match between Oid Boys and Merivale. Mr Phillips; That is provided Mcrival© beat Linwood next Saturday The chairman • The possibility is there and it should be provided xor. Tbe chairman added that, it. would possibly be p.e .well to piny the Old Boys v. Christchurch match on .Saturday week, July 26. If Old Boys boat Christchurch a match between Old Boys and Merivale, who would possibly then be winners arid runners-up respectively of the competition, could be played on August 23. Even if tho match was not for the shield it would prove a fine attraction. If Christchurch beat Old Boys on July 26, August 23 would still l>e available for the final match for the championship between Old Boys and Merivale. It was decided to leave tho matter to The Competitions Committee for a. report at -the next meeting of the Management Committee. GENERAL - It was agreed that the managers of the senior and junior representative teams, which are to tour south t.h»s season, should be appointed at the next mcctiug of the committee. Messrs Moloney and Maxwell were appointed to represent the union at, the conference of sub-unions to be held iu Chrietcburch on July 30. The Riccarton Club was fined 5s for each of two default* without notice. Watters presiding, it was decided to suspend at the pleasure ot the union two players, C. Stills and G. Day, for refusing to play jh th© represent;uive match against Malvern last Saturday. Tho reason given by th© two pia.veiH was that the union’s classification committee had refused to regrado two other players belonging to the Ashburton Club, aud they therefore had decided not to turn out in the representative match as a protest. Members of the union described th© action of Stills and Day as “ striking.” Th© referee in the junior grade match between Bpringburn-Mayfield and Ashburton. at Ashburton, on Saturday (Mr H.
