Eighteen cases of scarlet fever were reported in th© North Canterbury health district during th© past week. During the previous week ten cases were reported. Th© District Health Oflscer (Dr Telford; stated yesterday that th© absence of any large cubbreak for three or four years meant that- a larger proportion of children than usual had been accumulated without the resistant powers developed • by haring emerged from the disease.
