Th© City Editor the “The Times” s&ys that four different groups have tendered for the Arapuni contract. Ho understands that a Swedish electrical firm is supplying a portion of the plant required by Armstrong’s for the scheme. He suggests that the New Zealand Government should raise a loan in London later for the purposo of paying the contractors. Sir W. C. Armstrong, Whitworth and Company, the well known English firm, who are building the Waihi-Tau-rariga section of the East Coast railway, have been successful in securing the contract for the dam, spillway, hood works, power-house and plant installation of the Arapuni hydro -electric scheme, to cost £1,175,652.
