Most housewives like to have butter served up in rolls or attractive pats, but the time and labour involved in preparing them has often made this impracticable. A clever invention is an aluminium butter curler which cuts and shapes the butter into curled rolls on being drawn quickly through a piec-e of butter. * 4 Guess-work ’’ in measuring ingredients often leads to failure in cooking. Half a teaspconfuL for instance, is not easy to gauge. Exact quantities can be apportioned by means of measuring spoons in various sizes made to hold half a teaspoonful, one and a, half teaspoonfuls and so on. AN EGG SEPARATOR. To render easier the business of separating the yoke of an egg from the white, a small saucer-like contrivance has been designed. By’ a dexterous movement the yoke slips through the slot made in the bottom of- the saucer.
