BY SINBADThe things that Rugby writers pen in all the papers go to show the guessing feason’s round again for football Lns who think they know. In summer time they doze a bit; but every winter it’s the same, for wordy critics ne’er omit to spout opinions on the game. Club football’« given first a spin, and countless know-alls strive to state that Ch.ireh hoys cannot hope to win, that Meriwood are simply great. Then, when the Reps are in the wind, the noisy chorus grows apace; “ Oh, how have the selectors sinned to give such awful mugs a place ! We’d pick a fifteen from the rest, to lick ’em fifty odd to nil; to win we’ll need our very best ; these darned selectors make us ill.” Then, when AllBlacks are being picked, the critics to a frenzy rise; “these men,” they say, “' ,v;|l well be licked by every team ’math northern ekies. Have our selectors all gone blind, that thev this rabble should select? If these go homeward, we will find our hopes will thoroughly be wrecked.” As I observe these side-line cracks, 1 get more certain, every day, we should abandon our All Blacks, and send a Critic’s Team
