NORTH BEACH NOTES.
M ith the exception of the gale experienced on Sunday afternoon, the weather has been ideal for the school holidays and visitors to the beech. PARK ROAD. This much used thoroughfare which badly needed attention is receiving a good coating of tramway spoil, which when rolled will make a good road. TRAMWAY STOP. The Tramway Board has acceded to the request of the Burgesses’ Association and erected a seat on the Racecourse Road stop. SCHOOL SPORT. Messrs Feen and Uren, members of the North Beach School Committee, have kindly made the necessary poles and rings for the girls’ basket-ball and an effort will be made to clear the ground and erect them before the school re-opens. TRAM TRACK. The Bowhill Road track is being treated to a coating of metal and rolled. CHURCH SERVICE. Rev C. Maclaverty, vicar of New Brighton, will preach at North Beach on Sunday evening. SOCIAL. The Anglican Church will hold a Social in the Public School, North Beach, on Thursday next. PERSONALS. Mr J. P. Whatman, who has taken an active part in the Burgesses’ Association, and also the Tennis and Surf Clubs, is removing to Christchurcn. Mrs Liddiard, who recently took over the Post Office at North Beach, has unfortunately had a nervous breakdown and the work is being carried ou by her daughter. Mr and Mrs G. B. Gundry have taken a house in the Esplanade for twelve months. / Mr and Mrs W.T. Robinson, of Osborne Terrace, are removing to the city. Mr and Mrs C. Whitley, late of Papanui, are residing at Tonks’s Street, North Beach. Mr W. Tull, who has been in business at North Beach, is leaving for the North Island. , Mr E. A. M. Leaver returned from the North Island on Tuesday last.
