OLYMPIC GAMES.
ADDITIONAL CONTESTS. A'’big programme of important events lies before the Canterbury swimmers, Miss Gtvitha Shand and E. C. Heard, who are to represent New Zealand in the swimming events at the Olympic Games. In addition to the contests in Paris and the British Empire Games in London, a contest has been arranged in swimming and athletics between the United States of America and the British Empire. A letter received by the secretary of the N.Z.A.S.A. yesterday from the secretary of the A.S.A. (England) stated that this contest would be held in London following the Olympic Games. The swimming events would take place on July 26, and the venue -was the open air swimming pool (55 yards long) at Harrow-on-the-Hill, close to Wembley. The English Association has requested the New Zealand Association to permit Miss Shand and Heard to participate in these events if their performances at Paris warrant their inclusion in the team to represent the British Empire. It is probable that in the contest between the Empire team and the United States team the full Olympic programme of events will be contested. It is expected that this big international fixture will be witnessed by his Majesty the King.
