South Africa in their first innings made 223 (Nourse 62, Deane 19). Sadler took two wickets for 23 runs. Fender two for 56, and Peach four for 44. Nourse continued cautiously on a sodden wicket apd batted 128 minutes.
(On the first day Surrey also made 223. and South Africa lost five for 139.) THE MATCH DRAWN. (Received May 14. 1 p.m.) LONDON, May 13. Surre.; in their second innings declared with two wickets down for 136 (Cook 30, Hobbs not, out 79, Shepherd not our 13). The South Africans in their second strike have lost two wickets for 85 (Commaille 22, Taylor not out 35, Hr.nds not out 12). The match was drawn. Hobbs and Cook put on ninety-two in eighty-nine minutes. Surrey declared twenty minutes after the tea adjournment, leaving the South Africans seventy-five minutes in whu-h they survived the ordeal on a wicket that made the bowling tricky.
