MEETING OF COUNCIL. Pwr Press Association WELLINGTON, May 13. A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Golf Association was held to-day. There was a full diecustion as to the arrangements for bringing out two professionals from the Old Country for next season. The chairman and secretary will draft a letter setting out all the necessary details. Matters In connection with the next championship meeting at Auckland wer* fully discussed. A decision was arrived at with regard to the method of draw for the open championship qualifying rounds, which is to be the same as was adopted last year, namely the lowest handicap amateurs equal in number to professionals playing in tho open championship will be drawn with professionals and started first. The remaining amateurs up tv and ineluding national handicaps of seven will then be drawn in another class and started next. Those with n. national handicap of over seven will be drawn together aurl started after the previous classes have all got away. Each class will be drawn each day as to partners’ order of starting. After tile qualifying rounds for tho amateur championship have been played tho automatic draw will be adopted as previously. The council was unanimously of opinion that this system is tho only fair one with a view to finding the open amateur champions for the year. It was pointed out that at the last annual general meeting of the association during tournament week there was not one complaint made with regard to the method of draw.
