A DRAPERY MERGER.

BEATH AND CO. AND CAREY’S (LTD,) A drapery merger of considerable importance was completed yesterday, the firms concerned being Beath and Co., Cashel Street and Carey’s (Ltd.), Colombo Street. The terms of the merger have not been disclosed, but it is understood that Beath and Company will carry on the business in the Colombo Street premises for some time, taking over in eight or ten days. Important changes it is said, will be made subsequently, but these will be the subject of* a later announcement. The firms are both well-known and old-established ones. Beath and Company have been in business in Christchurch for sixty-four years, and Carey’s (Ltd.), for thirty-five years. The principal of the latter firm was Mr A. F. Carey, who is recognised as one of the keenest and best judges of drapery in New Zealand. Latterly, Mr Carey’s son has been prominently associated with him in the direction of the business.
