••“FOREST RUNNERS ” AND ••’THUNDERING DAWN.” Universal 'Western, drama is the lastrnred attraction on the new programme at the Strand Theatre. It i 3 entitled “ Forest Runners,” starring .Virginia Faire. The Universal Super-Jewel t “ Thundering Dawn,” featuring J. Warren Kerrigan and Anna Q. Nilsson, will also be shown. The story concerns a young New Yorker who takes the blame for his father’s financial difficulties and disappears, turning up in a sea-coast town in Java. Them he falls into the clutches of an unscrupulous planter, and also under the lure of Lullaby Lou. a beautiful woman of the white colony. Jack’s father regains his financial prestige and sends for the young man. Paul has. however, succumbed to tropics. Marv Rogers, his fiancee, goes to Java from New York, and finds him a human wreck. Her struggle to wrest him from his surroundings and from Lullaby Lou is almost in vain, and she liei - self almost becomes a victim of the villainous planter. Nature solves hec problem, however. with a terrific typhoon and tidal wave which all but wipe out the little town. Jack and Mary emerge half-dead but facing a new life together. Other films are ‘‘Ten Seconds” (a Lee Moran laugh ter-maker), “ Phantom Fortune *' (Chapter 8) and International News.
