OBITUARY.
JAFANESE FIELD-MARSHAL DEAD. By Telegraph Press Association-CopyrigUt Reuters Telegrams. (Received January 28. 11 a.m.) TOKIO, January 27. The death is announced of FieldMarshal Viscount Yoshimicha HasegAwa. the most famous militarist in Japan. He had been ill for a fortnight. The Viscount was 75 rears of age. MRS CROSLEGH DAMPIERCROSSLEY. The death occurred on Sundae, at her residence. Queen’s Avenue, Fendal ton, of Mrs Mary Dampier-Crossley, v ldow of th© late C’roslegh DampierCrossley. The late Mr Dampier-Cross-ley was horn in Auckland 011 May 24, 1861, and was the second daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Wynne Gray. Thirty -nine years ago she arrived in the South Island, and prior to her husband's death she lived in North Canterbury. She was a woman of a distinct and pleasing personality, loyal, generous, clear-minded and warm-hearted, making many friends and retaining them to the end. She leaves two children. Lady Campbell and Mr Jack Chajiman. of South Canterbury, as well as many friends, to mourn the loss of one whose lovable qualities made the world brighter for her presence.
