j At 206, New Brighton Road, on Sun- ; day, was celebrated the golden wed J ding of Mr and Mrs Robert M’Conkey. j Mrs M’Conkey (nee Catherina Lawrie), s who celebrated her eightieth birthdav { on June 3 last, arrived from Edinburgh ’ in the ship Ramsey, fifty-three years j ago, was married in Leeston three vears I later to Mr M’Conkey by the Rev J. W. Cree. and has lived in Christchurch ever since, being a vigorous and bright old lady. A largo number of guests at tended the golden wedding breakfast., when tho usual toasts were honoured. The large number of presents from friends old and new testified to the popularity of the old couple.
