A WOMAN’S DEATH.

SUICIDE BY POISONING. An adjourned inquest was held this morning at the Court House, before Mr H. Y. Widdowson. Coroner, on the death of Elizabeth King, a married woman, aged sixty-four, who was found on December 24 lying on a sofa with a cloth over her head and a gas tube underneath it. The inquest had been adjourned for the evidence of Dr Thomas, who was away on holiday. Dr J. R. Thomas said he was called in to see the deceased on December 7. He found that she had constant headache and was depressed, but not markedly so. He attended her four or five times after that, the last time being on December 21. She did not improve very much—a little at first, but then she slipped back again. The Coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence of Dr Anderson, given pioviously, that deceased died from carbon monoxide poisoning through inhaling gaa while mentally depressed through illness.
