Meikle (United) and V. M’Tigue (Corsair Bay) also started. Meikle road© the pace at the start, and covered th© first 100 yards in 78ser, being then about three yards in front of M’Tigu©. who was just in front of Stokes and Turgis. Over th© next hundred yards Meikle increased his lead to about six yards, but thereafter the other three began to pull up appreciably. At th© 375yds mark Stokes had caueht the leader, while M Tign© was three yards back. At th© 440yds mark, reached in 6min 49 8-ssec. Stokes was 2yds in front of Meikle, who pulled out at th© 450yds mark. Turgis was a couple of yards further back, just in front of M’Tigue. At 525yds M’Tigue pulled out. Th-r©ofi©r it was n nroc©**?on, with <t~ke« getting farther r.nd further away from Tnreis. He won by about a leneyh of the bath. Time—l4min 2 2-osec.
