MUSIC PUPILS’ BREAK-UP.

On Saturday Mr Claude Williams, L.A.8., gave an enjoyable break-up party at his home, 154, Colombo Street, South. Through various causes, a number of pupils were absent, but those present had a most enjoyable evening. Gaines, competitions and musical items were the order of entertainment. Miss Freeman being the prize-winner of a very amusing competition. Miss Freda Calvert won a prize for a guessing competition, and Mrs Gates was the winner of another game. The supper tables were prettily decorated with flowers and coloured streamers, while the over-popular Christmas bon-bon supplied each guest with a fancy cap and plenty of fun and laughter. During supper Mr Williams took the opportunity to present two prizes. He remarked that as the Associated Board and Trinity College examiners were now paying special attention to the branch of ear-training, ho felt it was his duty to encourage this study among his pupils by giving two prizes annually to the students attending his cartraining classes. He awarded the first prize to Ruby Ensor, who had gained the highest mincer of marks in the oecified time. The second prize was won by Molly Woodbury, who also gained good marks. Among those present were:—Mr and Mrs Claude Williams, Mr and Mrs Alex. M’Cleiland. Mr and Mrs H. Gates, Miss Ruth I Williams, Miss Mav Freeman. Miss C. Watts, Miss E. Woolley, Miss Blew,Miss O.
