CRICKET “ REPS.”
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I do not agree with-.your correspondent “Old Hands' * that the sole selector has made the best jiossible job of chosing this year’s representative team. In the first place, he has passed over Boon, of Lin wood, a promising and improving young player, and made Fuller, of Riccarton, wicketkeeper. This is a .bad error of judgment. Boon is a batsman, as well as a wicket-keeper. He made 73 and 36 not out against West Christchurch. Fuller, a good man in bis day. is jiast his prime. Then there is Sandman, of St Albans. His inclusion recalls the old adage: “It is harder to get out of a representative team than to get into it.’’ M’Ewin or Russell should be in long before Sandman. Crawford or Guiney should be in before Gregory. Why not encourage the younger players, especially when they deserve it? —I am, etc., N NOT A HAS-BEEN.
