GREATER CRYSTAL PALACE

NEXT WEEK’S BIG HOLIDAY PROGRAMME OF MUSIC AND PICTURES. “The Lure of Egypt,” “Out of Luck ” and current successful programme of motion pictures will be screened at Greater Crystal Palace for the last time this afternoon and tonight, and the big Symphony Orchestra, under the distinguished conductorship of Mr Alfred J. Buna, will play at both sessions. 'The manager of Greater Crystal Palace, Mr V, M- Beebe, has arranged a big holiday prograqime for next week, commencing Monday, which will consist, as usual, of two big feature photoplays and a strong variety of supporting films, as well as a magnificent musical programme by the worldfamous Symphony Orchestra. William H. Tooker, one of the screen’s best known and loved character actors, was chosen for the principal role in “The Power Within,” which heads the new bill. It is a Path© super-photoplay produced by Achievement Firas, Ltd., and was directed by Lem F. Kennedy from Robert Norwood’s famous novel of the same name. Mr Tooker is said to be such a splendid choice for the role of Job Armstrong, the man who challenged God’s will and found His power in his own soul, that he might have been the inspiration for the story. Some of Mr Tooker’s recent productions are “ Heliotropie,” * Proxies,” and “The Valley of the Night,” with Lionel Barrymore. The story of “ The Porter Within.” revolves about Job Armstrong, whose faith is solely in himself and in his own strength, which has carried him to the pinnacle of success. The manner in which Job is revealed to himself makes this picture unusually stimulating mentally, at tho same time thrilling with a shipwreck scene, charming with a love story and holding attention throughout with its throbbing life story. Mr Tooker is splendidly supported by an all star cast, which includes Pauline Garon, Robert Bentley and Robert Kenyon. Much in the way of thrilling adventure is offered in Jack Hoxie’s latest feature for Universal, “ Where is This Westr’ which is the second big picture on the new programme. The story has its setting in the Western cattle country, and Imany beautiful lacenic effects are presented in the picture. Many cowboys of the old school ridq in the Hoxie company, and their feats of horsemanship present a feature that is of outstanding interest in the play. Hoxio himself is a wondeirful rider, as well as a dramatic actor of real ability, and the motion picture public, which has voted him one of the most popular Western stars, will enjoy lam in this rapid-action comedy drama. In addition to his regular display of extraordinary riding ability, he leaps his saddle-horse across a gulch over a moving goods train in one of the most spectacular scenes ever filmed. The theme of the story is woven around the experiences of a couple of milkmen who leave their early morning occupation in an Eastern town anu “go West” for more exciting adventure. Supporting Mr Hoxie in the cast- are Mary Philbin. of 11 Merry Go Round ”, fame, Bob M’Kenzie, Jp-'-enh Giiard. Sid Jordan, Slim Cole and others. Supporting the two big pictures are the eighth exciting chanter of “ The Eagle’s Talons,” a very funny Geniurv eomedy, and the latest International news film. Following the established custom, particulars of ne<t ’ week’s musical programme will be announced in Monday’'; newspapers. The box plan is at The Bristol, or seats may be re served by telephoning Greater Cr'stal Palace, number 375 b.
