EXPLORING THE CHATHAMS
(Special to the “ Star.”) DUNEDIN. December 20. The New Zealand Scientists to take part in the expedition for scientific exploration of the Chatham Islands, leaving Lyttelton on New Year's Day, are: Mr Maxwell Young, F.C.S., Portobello marine fish hatcheries, Biology. Mr 11. D. Skinner, 8.A., Dunedin, Anthropology. Mr R. S. Allan, B.Sc., Otago School of Mines, Geologv. Mr \Y. G. Howes, F.E-S., Dunedin, Entomology. Mr J. Warwick,. M.A., Government palaeontologist, Fossil Life. Mr E. F. Northcroft, B.Sc., Dunedin, Mr W. Martin, B.Sc., Dunedin, Botany. Mr R. M. Laing, B.Sc-, Christchurch, Marine Botany. Mr Gilbert Archer, M.A., assistant curator of Canterbury Museum., whose field study will be birds and general biology; and Mr S. Lindsay, also of the Canterbury Museum, whose science is entomology, are already at the Island. Professor R. Speight, M.A., M.Sc., curator of Canterbury Museum, will investigate the geology of the islands at a later date.
