THE KENNEL.

BY

“GREYHOUND.”

Canterbury dog fanciers will be interested to learn that, according to advice which received in Christchurch from Auckland on Monday, Messrs R. Shand and A. Dawson, the well-known Christchurch breeders of Fox-terriers, have scored a number of successes at the Auckland Kennel Club Show, which was held in the northern city last Friday and Saturday. With their Fox-terrier dog Canterbury Brown Stout they secured firsts in New Zealand-bred, coionial-bred, and open classes, and with their bitch Forex they also secured firsts in New Zea-land-bred, colonial-bred and open bitch classes. With both dogs shown together they were awarded a first in brace class, and shown with their kennel mate, Northland Necklet, the dogs won the team class.

Mr W. M. Jaci>t? of Sydenham, has purchased from the Invercargill breeder Mr N. Critchfield tbe Wire puppy Bellevue Brigadier, by Mercury ex Glenmore Glen.

Mr J. N. RobiftHpn. of Hokitika, informs ns that his Wire Fox-terrier bitch Wiry of Waiiiki recently whelped a fine litter of four b\ Berkeley Squire, a son of Ch. . Glenmore Bvistler, ox Berkeley Winky.

Ula Pedrilla. the chocolate ChikuaherA, owned by Mrs M. H. M’Gibbon, of Merivale, is at present rearing a pair of puppies by her kennel-mate, the black dog Ula Sigretto. Miss Lumsd.en, of ‘Hornby, lias purchased a promising Airedale dog puppy (from the bitch Winning Hit), from Mr J. C. Mullins, Upper Riccarton. The puppy is a half brother to Mr D. M’Kenzie’s Peterborough.

Dr A. C. M’Killop. of Seacliff. has sold a nice black and white Cocker dog puppy by Dundrennan Rufus ex Waitaki Louvain, to Mr Alan M Smith, of Auckland A blue-roan pup from the same litter and also that fine bitch Braeyal Rabette have gone to Mrs M’Kiernan. of Wellington.

Smooth .Fo\-ter;ier fanciers in Australia are excited over the recent an noun cement of the expected arrival of th English dog Ch. Lesterlin Gay. We are privileged (says “ Wattlebark ” in the “Australasian”) to get exclusive news of this good dog direct from the importer. We asked no questions about the price, but wc do know that many of tbe tall prices quoted recently for importations could safely be reduced by half and bo nearer the mark. However. as regards Lesterlin Gay we saw a letter from one of England’s shrewdest buyers to another fancier other than the importer, and he quoted £l5O as bedrock. Add shipping and quarantine expenses, and w:e have approximately £IBO before he reaches the kennel of his new owner. Toirier men say he is. cheap at the price, because of his valuable outcross in blood. Although the new owner’s name is not known it* is understood he is one of the staunchest supporters of the Victorian Poultry and Kennel Club.
