BOWLING.

CHRISTCHURCH CENTRE. A meeting of the Christchurch Bowling Centre was held last evening, Mr F. Steans presiding over a fair attendance of A letter was received from the Canterbury Olympic Committee asking that two delegates be appointed. Messrs C. H. Piper and J. D. Colville were appointed. The president was appointed a delegate to the annual council of centres. It was decided to ask the delegate to put forward a remit to the council asking that a minimum size be fixed for playing mats. Tho president said that a tournament would be hell lu January. It was decided f hat no meeting of the centre be held in January. In referring to fine trip of the Christchurch representative bowling team to Tiraaru. the president said that they were very well treated and had a most enjoyMr A. J. Benzie said that the trip to Timaru waa one full of pleasant surprises and not the lea6t of these was the magnificent silver cup presented by Mr Steans for competition between South Canterbury and Christchurch ceutree, and also the representative buttons. He moved a hearty vote of thanks to the president for the donations. The motion was carried unanimously. In thanking the members the president said that it was only when he knew he was going to Timr.ru officially that it struck Inin that they should have something to play f or. It gave him great pleasure to make the presentation and he was Ftill further p.ltaied that South Canterbury had won the cup for the first year. Some discussion took place regarding the judging rn the annual competition for the best-kept green. It was decided, on the motion of Mr A. Diekßon, to refer the matter to the Tournaments Committee to deal with.
