SYDNEY. December 10. Thieves entered the home of Madame Avanzo, at Rose Bay. and secured diamond jewellery valued at £4OOO. MEXICO CITY, December 9. Jalapa, the capital of the State of Vera Cruz, fell into the hands of the revolutionaries on Saturday. Rail communication between El Paso, Tescas, and Mexico has been destroyed by bandits. It is understood that General Obregon’s sympathisers took possession of several cities and declared martial law. It is rumoured that De La Huerta and all his supporters have been deprived of ofncc. SYDNEY. December 10. While Ernest Dunham, aged twenty - eight, was walking in York Street in a busy part of the afternoon with a woman ho was accosted by a man known to the latter. High words ensued, resulting in an exchange of blows. A revolver was then fired, the bullet entering Dunham’s’ back, killing him instantly. ATHENS, December 9. The authorities for some days have suspected that a new plot to overthrow the Government was being hatched. It was noticed that Metaxist agents were active in military circles and that they hoped to win over the Athens garrison, contrive to overthrow the revolution, create internal troubles and bring about foreign intervention. The conspirators were provided with ample funds which were used for propaganda. The movement seems to have been nipped in the bud. It is stated that compromising documents and large sums were found in the possession of those arrested. A severe inquiry is proceeding. Two persons were killed and twenty injured in a turbulent demonstration following a mass meeting of Royalists.
