SEA SCOUT RACE. n This race started from the Scout ship fund finished between the flags off the vbeach. The first part, with the tide, was easy going, but the return, against f:tide and a rising easterly, gave the boys Jplenty to do. Owing to a misunderstanding as to the finishing post, the results had to lie adjusted. It was found that some of the boats had •topped at the temporary pier. YACIIT RACES. Courses—Start from Newbery's to buoy in outer channel, thence to buoy at Sky. lark Island; A class, three times round; B class, twice; C class, once: then finish - ing in line with Causeway Road and flagon marked stake. A Clasp, yachts over 18ft—Resolute (4hr 24min) 1. Wairau (4br Simla 53scc) 2. Iranui (4hr 32min) 3. • R Class, yachts under 18ft—Airiti (4hr Ifimin 53sec) 1, Skip (4hr 12min 27sec) 2, Albatross (4hr 12min 52sec) 3. O Clasp, yachts 14ft. and under—Seamew (4hr 1 Imin) 1. BA).A. (ihr 23min 35sec) 2, .Bluebird (4hr 48min) 3. These races constituted the great spectaculaj* event of tho day. Under bright sunshine, with a romping easterlj’ topping the blue waters of the estuary, tho display of bulging white canvas on the racing fleet was admired by hundreds lining the embankment. To the crews aboard the. water conditions demanded lively control. while they imposed a general wetting of those in charge. At Skylark Island the full force of the wind necessitated skilful management. Tho times were good throughout. EVENING’S ENTERTAINMENT. The side shows were kept open during the evening, when arrangements were made for a cabaret dauce on the RedclifFs tennis courts. The experiment was a great h success. Hundreds of dancers took " the ’’ floor ” to the lively music of Brook'* Jazz Orchestra. The Sumner Marine Band •Iso contributed a programme which was ranch appreciated. A feature of the evening was the lighting of tho grounds and the coloured eiectrio lamps erected by the roadside on the way to the stalls. BOXING TOURNAMENT. In connection with tho RedcliiTs gala a boxing tournament will be held in the large marquee adjoining the Redcliffs tennis court 3. It will be conducted by the Boxing Association and the bouts will bo confined to youths under twenty-one. Very good entries have been received and some interesting boxing should be witnessed There will bo four classes, and the winner in each class will receive a gold medal.
